How to Drink Enough Water

Water is essential for survival. You cannot survive more than 3 days without it. Humans are supposed to drink at least half a gallon of water a day. And no – coffee does not count as water! Typically, doctors recommend following the 8 x 8 rule – eight 8 ounce glasses of water a day. You can reach this goal in many ways.

Schedule Your Water

If you are a person who stays too busy to remember to drink, schedule your water breaks on your smartphone. It will go off and remind you to drink a glass of water. Set aside a glass that you know can hold at least 8 ounces of water, and set eight reminders for each day.

Use Bigger Containers

You can purchase large water bottles and pitchers that can help you track your water intake. If your water bottle holds 16 ounces of liquid, you know that you need to drink four full water bottles per day. Your pitcher may be a half gallon, so you know you have to drink the entire pitcher that day. Even without purchasing a pitcher or a water bottle, you can simply opt for a larger glass when you grab water.

Add Some Flavor

No, do not mean your water with tea or Koolaid. However, you can infuse your water with things like lemons, limes, mint, strawberries, cucumber, kiwi, and more! Some people simply don’t like that water has no taste. So, this is a great way to make sure you hit your daily water goal if you dislike plain water.
